Description

Created to celebrate the 40th birthday of the Apple II line, Alien Downpour pays tribute to old-school shoot-'em-up action. There are sectors upon sectors of hostile space baddies to vanquish, bosses to defeat, and obstacle-course sections to test the player's agility - complete with references to fondly-remembered past games (and to Apple II history).

Most levels pit you against some variety or other of alien adversaries, all of whom must be blasted out of the sky. However, you also have free-falling hostages to pick up and rescue; being too trigger-happy poses the risk of massacring your distressed comrades. These stages are interspersed with "slalom zones", where you must dodge falling objects of varying likelihoods, and with boss-battle sections. If you survive long enough, a special stage leads to the final showdown... which reveals the horrible truth about the evil behind the scenes. All of this can be experienced in multiple difficulty levels.
