There really is no reason for anyone to buy this game when Gamecube has the likes of Mario Sunshine and even Luigi's Mansion on it. Shrek is a very average platform game that admittedly features some humorous moments and cute little touches, but not enough to warrant paying top dollar for it. I'm going to offer Shrek a score of 2 GiN gems because it really did nothing for me and is a blatant attempt to cash in on a movie license.

Entertainment Depot, The (3.5 out of 10)

With several technical and design flaws that will irritate older and younger gamers, there really is no portion of the market that Shrek: Extra Large will appeal to. Only the most diehard fan will play long enough to enjoy the humor, but everyone else will stop long before they get a solid impression of how well it was brought into the game world. Everyone else will want to skip on ahead to greener pastures of Super Mario Sunshine and the like.

Shrek : Extra Large aura comme un air de déjà vu pour ceux qui auront eu l'occasion de s'essayer à la version Xbox. Le titre n'est absolument pas optimisé pour les capacités de la GameCube et le gameplay est un exemple type de ce qu'il ne faut pas faire. Voilà un jeu qui risque d'être très difficile à battre dans la catégorie des pires softs de la machine.

Whether you're a Shrek fan or not, don't buy this game. It's awful. It's exceedingly poor, actually, and it is so in a gaming industry that now hardly ever releases products that fall below the average. That makes it a standout in crap execution. For that reason alone, it's interesting in the same way that rubbernecking around an exceptionally grotesque car crash might be. Shrek wouldn't want you to see him this way. If you have kids, don't rent this for them -- it might be contagious.

Game Chronicles (2.8 out of 10)

I try to find at least one nice thing to say about every game I review. In this case I can say we can all be thankful that this is a GameCube exclusive so owners of PS2 and Xbox systems can relax. GameCube owners need to steer very clear of this title. Don’t even risk a rental. It’s just not worth it.
