Parkitect
Description official descriptions
Parkitect is a single-player construction and management simulation game. The player takes the role of a theme park manager tasked with designing, building, and maintaining amusement parks. The objective is to balance guest satisfaction, financial stability, and park expansion while completing scenario-based goals or freely experimenting in sandbox mode.
Core gameplay focuses on building and designing rides. Players can place prefabricated attractions or build custom coasters piece by piece, adjusting track height, banking, loops, and launch types. Ride statistics such as excitement, intensity, and nausea are calculated dynamically, influencing how popular a design becomes with visitors. Other facilities such as shops, food stalls, and utilities must also be placed to keep guests entertained and generate income.
Management systems extend to staffing and logistics. Janitors, mechanics, entertainers, and security guards must be hired and assigned work zones. Unlike earlier genre entries, Parkitect emphasizes behind-the-scenes support infrastructure. Supply depots and warehouses distribute goods to shops, requiring service roads and staff paths hidden from guests. Neglecting logistics leads to stalls running out of stock or mechanical breakdowns.
The game tracks guest behavior through mood, hunger, thirst, and cleanliness needs. Park design influences crowd flow, and decorations increase guest happiness, while poorly maintained paths or insufficient amenities reduce it. Weather and time of day affect visitor decisions, encouraging the placement of shelters, lighting, and themed scenery.
Secondary features include a research system for unlocking new rides and attractions over time. Multiple campaign scenarios present different challenges, such as tight budgets, difficult terrain, or demanding guest expectations. Sandbox mode removes restrictions, allowing unlimited creativity. Workshop support enables players to share rides, scenery, and entire parks online.
