Airport Control Simulator

Moby ID: 58918

Description

Airport Control Simulator tasks the player with guiding airplanes safely to the landing zones at different airports around the world. The game is similar to Flight Control but with a bit more complexity. The player is presented with a top-down view of the airport and has to use the mouse to guide the planes as they enter the area. Clicking on a plane reveals the interface consisting of an arrow and a metered bar. The arrow is the plane's sighter and is used to change its direction and speed. The longer it is the faster will the plane fly. The bar is the altimeter and is used to change the altitude. To succeed with a landing the altitude and speed of the plane has to be lowered to meet the requirements of the landing strip. It's also important to keep track of the fuel reserves. Less fuel is used at high altitudes. The player also has keep an eye on the anemometer to beware of the wind's direction and intensity. Strong winds can impact the planes' path. When the player is doing things wrong he gets error points. This includes planes flying too close to each other, planes flying across an airport and planes leaving the airport area. Reaching 1000 error points leads to a failed mission.

The game consists of 15 airports. The first eleven are European and are unlocked one at a time by completing the missions in order. Those airports outside Europe are unlocked by starts that the player earns every time a mission is completed without errors. The objective of each mission is to land a certain number of planes. When done the player gets a score based on planes landed, number of errors and time taken.

I Think This Game is Great!

The Good
I absolutely love this game. I have always liked anything with airplanes and flying and travelling. This game has it all. Not only does it use real images of airports from around the world (I assume from Google Earth) but it is also very accurate and challenging. I personally like that real images are used rather than cartoon-ish renderings of the airports, it make is feel more realistic. I also like the amount of detail in the game play. It keeps me coming back and trying harder to gain stars, which are NOT easy, but I am not giving up! I started struggling at the 13 plane mark, but I will finish the game! Thank you Nemesys team, I am really loving this game!

The Bad
Once you have 10+ planes coming, they seem to come way too close together and makes the levels extremely difficult to beat, even in Easy Mode. But I'm sure it is possible so I will keep trying.

The Bottom Line
Fun, Challenging, Realistic, Patience needed.
