Alley Cat: Remeow Edition

Description

Alley Cat: Remeow Edition is an extended remake of Alley Cat. It follows its forefather's feline formula: Freddie the cat attempts to woo his darling Felicia by braving the back street, invading the dingy homes, and poking his whiskers into a variety of rooms - each room a sort of mini-game with a different objective. Along the way, he'll have to outwit his natural enemies: self-propelling brooms, cranky dogs, vengeful mice and other such menaces.

Remeow Edition incorporates elements from both the Atari and IBM PC versions of Alley Cat, including all of the original levels, topped off with a slew of enhancements: even more rooms to mess up, a multiplayer mode, updated graphics and sounds, customizable game options and controls, some easter-eggs, and even support for arcade cabinets.

You get to wreak havoc on these entirely new locations: the kitchen (smashing up bottles and slurping the milk), the bedroom (using your claws to dig through the bedclothes), the bathroom (unrolling all the toilet paper), the terrace (gobbling up the potted plants), and the magic room (grabbing rabbits out of hats); the selection of available rooms can be modified at will.

In "versus" mode, up to four cats compete for Felicia's heart - Freddie and his differently-colored friends can be controlled either by human players or by the CPU. Lives are unlimited, and all cats are in play simultaneously: each of them attempts to clear the room before the others do, then get his paws on the lady. The first player to win the target number of rounds (which can be configured) gets the game. Optionally, even the cats' enemies can be controlled in this mode.

In addition to the default set of remade graphics/sounds, the game can simulate the original versions (Atari, IBM PC/CGA, PCjr), although they still play exactly the same - new enhancements included. You can also replace the default color scheme with set of monochrome palettes, or tweak aspect ratios and resolutions.
