The graphics are very attractive, though the sound is largely functional. The icons are a bit small and fiddly, especially in the thick of battle. There's lots to see and do, perhaps a little to much initially. You've got to be prepared to put something in at the beginning to get something out later. A great game for the arcade adventurer whose interests tend towards the latter.
Amiga Action (Jul, 1991)
The story line for Eco Phantoms offers a new twist to standard strategy games and is very topical in respect of the attention that the environment is receiving at the moment. But how does the game play? The copy-protection is a pain in the neck. You have to mess about with a grid and fill in patterns fat too often. Overall, the game isn't too bad; graphics, sound and gameplay are all average. If you enjoy exploring and building up your resources with a splash of blasting you may find something interesting here.
Amiga Power (Jul, 1991)
Pretty graphics, lots of controls and sub-games but nothing interesting to do. A sorry state of affairs, really.
Amiga Power (May, 1991)
Different, but not a vital game by any means.
Amiga Joker (May, 1991)
