Science and music to assist your child
Studies show music can help improve the thought structure of young children and stimulate their creativity.
Mazaam relies on the most recent research in psychology, neuroscience and education to teach children how to decode the musical structure. Its educational program is based on the guidelines of the Canada Research Chair in Music and Learning.
Mazaam offers an intuitive and progressive structure. Visual clues guide your child at the beginning of each module, then disappear little by little to draw his or her auditory attention. Soon, your child is able to distinguish, associate, identify and detect the musical elements.
With Mazaam, your child gradually learns to:
– identify similar musical excerpts
– detect excerpts with different characteristics
– associate the right musical excerpt with the right animal
In Mazaam’s world, your child also develops the ability to:
– use effective strategies
– establish priorities
– evaluate the best option for dealing with a problem
– adapt to novelty and change
In short, your child develops both cognitive abilities and musical knowledge, while having fun!

The world of Mazaam
Five entertaining worlds await your child in the Mazaam app.
1 – Squirrel music box (low-pitched and high-pitched sounds)
Music involves low-pitched and high-pitched sounds that create melodies. In this module, your child is introduced to the pitch of sounds, accompanied by squirrels bursting with energy!
2 – Chameleon music box (tempo)
The duration of sounds sets the rhythm of a musical movement. This module leads your child to differentiate between slow and fast musical excerpts. By playing with chameleons, your child learns to distinguish tempo.
3 – Lynx music box (soft or loud sounds)
In this module, your child has fun discovering the different degrees of intensity of sounds: soft or loud. As the lynxes of this world know well, the contrast between these different intensities forms musical nuances.
4 – Eagle music box (timbre)
Timbre is the “colour” of sound, the way each sound is produced. For example, it lets you distinguish a flute from a violin. This module — and hungry eagles! – will help your child become familiar with wind instruments and string instruments.
5 – Sea lion music box (harmony)
Musical harmony contains different elements, including consonance and dissonance. In this module, your child will learn to distinguish between more harmonious or more discordant excerpts with the help of friendly sea lions.
With Mazaam, accompany your child’s development through play and music!
