Fiddling with a popular formula is risky business, and trying to turn that formula freemium is doubly so. But with The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Social before it, EA has proven that The Sims was the perfect candidate for such a transformation. FreePlay takes everything that’s great about The Sims 3 and twists it into a new freemium shape, without relying on the changes to the formula that took place in the series earlier freemium iteration. Kudos to EA. This is one of the best games of its kind.
Android Rundown (Mar 06, 2012)
It’s a fun game, if you enjoy digital pets. Sims can be friends or even romantically involved with one another. It’s vicarious living at the extreme, and I think that’s why it’s so captivating. When Sims are sad they generate a lot of sympathy so the drive to keep them healthy and happy will keep people playing on and on.
It's a bit annoying that you constantly need to be connected to the internet to play. Nevertheless, The Sims FreePlay is still a fun way to escape the real world for a while.
The Smartphone App Review (Mar 30, 2012)
Overall, Android user have got a lot to look forward to this year, what with the news about Android Jelly Bean and various amazing looking handsets on the horizon, but unless you have the patience of a saint or are prepared to blow $100 dollars on a mobile game, then The Sims Freeplay isn’t one to be excited about. Good at what it does, but has the feel of a cash grab, and in all honesty, The Sims 3 is probably better value for money, even if this is free.
