The action is pretty conventional sideways scrolling and power-ups, with the obligatory Big Bad Muther at the end of the level - but it's jolly playable and guaranteed to give a reasonable amount of sensory overload once you get into it. Hardly a classic, but for more than a routine blast, Carrier Airwing is the one for you, Matey Boy!
Apart from this and a slightly different setting – Tokyo instead of the Middle East – Carrier Airwing is to all intents and purposes as different to UN Squadron as Strider is from Strider II. But, er, you might have gathered that already. It's all so dull I'm starting to repeat myself as much as the slotty companies.
Overall, Carrier Air Wing is a game that most players can afford to miss. If you have ever played a scrolling aerial shooter, then you have played this game. Carrier Air Wing's biggest flaw might be its lack of originality. Don't waste your quarters in this one.
