X-Citing! X-Men Adventure!

The Good
From the fabulous pages of Marvel Comics, comes a totally X-citing X-Men Arcade game! You and your friends take control of the available mutant superheroes on an action packed quest to protect humanity from the minions of the malevolent Magneto.

Professor X and young Kitty Pryde have been kidnapped, anti-mutant robots patrol the streets and Magneto has assembled a villainous gallery of mutant terrorists.

To succeed you need to beat up the robots and terrorist mutants, while saving your mutant power attacks for the right moment.

The Uncanny X-Men do battle at various city locations taken from the comic book panels. The action is non-stop, the control mechanics are smooth, the music is wild and the animation and artwork is taken from the classic, 1989 X-Men TV pilot.

Yes! In 1989, Marvel aired a pilot for an X-Men animated series. The pilot didn't get picked up, but clearly inspired the look and overall feel of this arcade game. The game looks, sounds and plays brilliantly!

The Bad
The beat 'em up gameplay can get repetitive. Your mutant powers are cool to look at but are rarely used. This game would have greatly benefited from the ability to use your powers more often.

The Japanese edition had enemies drop icons to restore your health and mutant abilities. Alas, the American edition only restores your mutant powers after defeating a boss.

The Bottom Line
The X-Men Arcade game is an X-citing, beat 'em up, which looks, sounds and plays brilliantly! Fans of the mighty mutants will enjoy the care and dedication put into the game by its developer.
