iPhoneTouch Arcade (Nov 03, 2009)
Overall, Asphalt 5 definitely delivers on the fun meter. The controls and content really makes this a racer accessible to everyone. Aside from the middling (though acceptable) framerate on earlier generation devices, Asphalt 5 is solid arcade racer with quality graphics. With a variety of different races, a relatively balanced AI, online multiplayer and a great feeling of speed, Asphalt 5 comes highly recommended.
iPhone148apps (Nov 16, 2009)
At the end of the day, Asphalt 5 does not presume to be anything else than what it is, and that's a flat-out arcade racer. It succeeds in its mission, and does so without taking itself too seriously, making it both charming and fun.
iPhonePocket Gamer UK (Nov 03, 2009)
Asphalt 5 improves the road paved by previous instalments, bringing new multiplayer options, enhanced graphics, and a robust single-player experience.
iPhoneIGN (Nov 06, 2009)
Asphalt 5 is a great arcade racer with just one glaring problem: cop chase mode. And while you can get around this event for a while, if you want to actually finish the game, you are stuck with it. It's just frustrating. But, other than this disappointing event, the rest of Asphalt 5 is a gas. The graphics and music are top notch and while over-the-air multiplayer would be ideal, the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi play works well, too. Just don&#Array;t download expecting something serious. Because Gameloft's idea of racing is straight-up arcade-style. And bless them for it.

We can forgive Asphalt 5's super bouncy, mega-arcadey physics. After all, we liked that about the last one. And the graphics are simply gorgeous this time around. But the overwhelming difficulty for just one type of mode (when the others are not too challenging at all) threw us off. There's a lot of fun to be had in here if you can figure out the trick to beating the Elimination events, but we just worry that not enough players will get to enjoy the entire game.
