ST Action (Oct, 1993)
The graphics are ok... the sound is a little dated, but other than that the game is a classic.
Atari ST User (Jan, 1989)
Bandits at six o'clock ... Nip in the sun ... yes, it all comes back. Those steamy days in my Kittyhawk trying to pin down that illusive Zero before blasting it from here to eternity. 1943 is an exciting re-creation which will have you strapped in your cockpit for hours on end - well at least until you need to refuel.
Power Play (Jan, 1989)
The One (Dec, 1988)
And what happened to the simultaneous two player option? Variety is also seriously lacking: successive levels, grow more difficult without proffering any rewards save for a few more naval targets. 1943's appeal is short lived and little mourned. This battle goes to the Japanese - through lack of interest.
Attack waves on both versions are predictable and defeating the Japanese forces would be even easier if control was less sluggish. The original coin-op was a disappointment - which makes these good conversion.
