The idea is to build molecules from various atoms. That's it, nothing else. No rescuing princesses or saving planets, just simple molecular science. It's rather a lot of fun, too - very much a member of the Tetris School of Puzzling. As you'd expect, the more levels completed the harder they get, and you can soon find yourself hooked, attempting to get yourself out of a spot. Highly recommended to thinkers, this one.
Atari ST User (Sep, 1991)
Atomino offers very little variety of gameplay. Like most puzzle games it is just the same thing over and over but on higher levels it's a little bit faster. The graphics, as you would expect from a puzzle game, are nothing special, neither is the sound. There is no real atmosphere - it just doesn't make the grade.
ST Format (Sep, 1991)
Atomino is a completely stripped-down puzzle game and makes no pretensions at anything else, so it stands or falls on the enjoyability of the puzzle. It's a fast game - most of the time you work by instinct, because you simply don't have the time to plan ahead much. In the end, you can take it or leave it, and many people may greet it with indifference. It's not likely to go down in history as one of the puzzle games, but if you're into sub-molecular atom-arranging you're in for a wild time. (And good luck to you.)
