Car-Vup is extremely refreshing to play. Vast amounts of colour are used effectively and the animation of the various characters is pleasing to watch, although it's a little "stiff" and unimaginative at times. A catchy and spurring tune enhances the gameplay and creates a really fun atmosphere. The action is a little slow at first, but as you progress, it certainly becomes challenging. Initially, Car-Vup excels in being enjoyable. You do however, feel it could become repetitive after being played for any length of time.

Although the sound isn't quite up to the Amiga's standard, and the parallax scrolling has been lost, ST Car-Vup is still a really addictive game. Highly recommended.

Yes, it's a cutesy platform game. Yes, they've been done to death recently. And yes, there's really nothing about Car-Vup which makes it any better than something like Rainbow Islands. But if you're a cutesy game convert, you're going to fall for this one in a pretty big way. The game style may be hackneyed but Car-Vup is still eminently playable and outstandingly absorbing.
