All in all a superb game which will have you playing until the early hours of the morning. With three quite different levels of difficulty it should keep you happy for months to come.
New Computer Express (Dec 10, 1988)
Combining the structure of a wargame with strategic and tactical phases, with aspects of role-play such as the creation of characters and manipulation of their skills, Freedom is certainly different in terms of its subject matter. It'll probably sell better on the continent than here, though, since the British don't even admit to having had an empire based on slavery let alone the nerve to design a game around it. Worth checking out if you feel like some radical role-play.
I tried to like this game, as the concept, music and storyline were all good, however the graphics, Role Playing element and actual game design are sadly lacking, so, with some regret, I reached over to my role playing pile for another game. And what a surprise, it's another sword-wielding macho white male barbarian game. Oh well!
Power Play (Jan, 1989)
Grafisch habe ich nichts Revolutionäres gesehen, der Sound trommelt dumpfe Buschweisen vor sich hin - “Freedom“ ist kein Programm, wegen dem man seine Schrumpfkopf-Sammlung verpfänden müßte.
