The games are all easy to learn, and because the computer opponents have varying skill levels it's possible to pick them up as you play. Graphic representation is very much in the Sierra house style, and sound the usual boring internally generated rubbish. This is definitely a game you could send your gran for Christmas without offending her. Wee bit pricey, though.

Hoyle's Book of Games is a change from what Sierra usually do. Branching off into a new style of game has shown that they can produce something more than an adventure. However, Hoyle's didn't really shine through for me. Although I enjoyed playing against the different characters, I found the game too easy, and one that I think will appeal more to the younger generation.

[Budget re-release] To put all the cards on the table, then (sorry, I really must stop this now), Hoyle can keep his book of games - more of a pamphlet than a book, really - and Sierra may as well give up trying to sell this load of rubbish even at budget price. Invest in a pack of cards instead.
