The controls prove to be simple to use and, once you understand exactly how the machine is operated the game really begins to shine. It's a brilliant platform game and my only criticism is that the time limits may be too short. Overall, Night Shift is a first class game that will keep you busy for hours on end.

Night Shift is a novel and fun idea, but ultimately just a variation the spinning plates theme - the better you get, the more dolls you're asked to make. This limits the game's long-term interest. All you are doing is amassing points in the form of money. If you can make only $150 after an hour's play, and the display can go up to $1 million, then you might want to just give up and go for something your Mum would be proud of - like accountancy.

[Budget re-release] The one niggle is that disk one is labelled Disk 8, and disk two is Disk A; while the program some- times asks for disk three which is Disk A again - come on Kixx, get your act together. Aside from that, Night Shift is a polished and highly playable program, exactly what you expect from LucasArts.

Why beat about the bush? Not to put too fine a point on it, Night Shift is unbearably slow to load and annoying to play. It's badly designed and documented and ultimately dull. Perhaps there is an enjoyable game lurking beneath the off-putting facade, but to be honest I was turned off from playing it long enough to find out.
