ST Action (Nov, 1991)
Cutesy platform games seem to be all the rage at the moment and Rolling Ronny fits, if a little bit awkwardly, into that category. Rolling Ronny is a game that brings a smile to your face as well as giving you hours of pleasure. The scrolling is very smooth and the graphics are colourful and well defined. It is obvious that a lot of care has gone in to the design of this game. With loads of playability and charisma, this is a top-notch product.
Atari ST User (Dec, 1991)
That aside, Rolling Ronny is a pretty groovy little game. It's easy to get used to and it's challenging, but not impossible. Not quite the coolest dude in town, but certainly cool enough to chill out and do his thang with the "Cool Posse". Whatever that means.
ST Format (Jan, 1992)
RR is daft. As a brush. But it's enjoyably daft. There are nine looong levels, loads of bonuses and much to keep you amused, but nothing too taxing in the way of brainpower usage. It presents quite a stiff challenge though, which platform aficionados should welcome. Others might find yet another round of jumping and dodging a little trying. But a game that's a little trying is better than a game that tries little (as Oscar Wilde once said).
ASM (Aktueller Software Markt) (Nov, 1991)
Was auf dem Amiga schon mäßig war, wird durch eine mehr oder weniger 1:1 ausgeführte Umsetzung auf den Atari auch nicht besser. Das belegt einmal mehr die ST-Fassung von STARBYTES ROLLING RONNY.
