Computer and Video Games (CVG) (Aug, 1989)
Stunt Car is utterly brilliant, and offers adrenalin-pumping, gut wrenching high speed action that'll keep you engrossed for months.

The Games Machine (UK) (Nov, 1989)
Stunt Car Racer is an action-packed racing game that had us all on the edge of our seats. Background graphics are sparse but when hurtling round a bend at colossal speeds sightseeing is your last consideration. Sound is also thin on the ground consisting mainly of spot effects, but again with your eyes glued to the track this is a minor irritation. Fighting your way to division one is a long and dangerous path, but it is well worth the effort.

Zero (Dec, 1989)
A stupendously fast, action-packed, solid 3-D racing game. If it were in the arcades it would 'clean up'. Vomit inducing stuff. Brilliant!

ACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment) (Sep, 1989)
Those who maintain the ST can't scroll smoothly should take a look at this. Any suggestions of that nature are dispelled by the fact that Geoff Crammond has created the fastest racing game to be found outside an arcade. Blows away all four-wheel opposition.

Stunt Car Racer is a cracking good game, perhaps that's why Microprose has slapped a rather steep £24.99 price tag on it. In spite of this, it is recommended.

Retro Gamer (Aug, 2004)
A British classic that has endured
thanks to a simple control method
mixed with some superb, fullthrottle
gameplay.

The One (Aug, 1989)
Stunt Car Racer feels quite wonderful and offers sufficient lasting challenge with the league system and the datalink option, which allows two ST or Amiga owners to race against each other. This is all very well for anyone suitably equipped, but the less fortunate among us you can't help wishing for more
variety In the courses - even pseudo-random ones. How about an add-on disk?

Power Play (Sep, 1989)

ST Format (Nov, 1989)
This has to be the most unusual car game by far, and it's certainly fun to play. Racing as many as seven other cars makes it even more enjoyable and extends its life considerably. Getting to the top of the Super League is tough: there's certainly enough here to keep you occupied here for many a long. dark winter evening.
