Babaliba
- Babaliba (1984 on ZX Spectrum)
Description
This open-source, freeware remake of the Spanish action-adventure from 1984 replaces the characteristic large sprites of the ZX Spectrum graphics, and its sparse thin sounds, with new enhanced assets closer to the modern standards, while carefully maintaining the same style and gameplay of the original. As before, the player controls an archaeologist wandering through the gardens of an Arab palace, collecting keys and other useful objects to solve puzzles while avoiding roaming enemies like Moorish guards, giant crabs, poisonous spiders and other bizarre creatures. The adventurer carries a small amount of bombs that can be deployed to destroy all the foes on the screen. He has to drop the bomb and move to an adjacent screen, then return after the detonation. Otherwise, he can also be caught on the explosion and killed. The main objective is to navigate the maze-like environments to rescue a fellow prisoner, kidnap the princess and steal the royal treasure.
