NS/EW Torusoidal turnbased nightmare
The Good
This game had better graphics than Empire. It had units which could bombard other units without having to risk death by directly attacking them. Units had considerable movement, and you had to watch in all directions, as north wrapped to south and east to west. Otherwise, it was pretty much just like empire. Having thought about it, I have no memory at all of it having resources. If it did, that, no doubt, makes it a little better.
The Bad
This game was scaled poorly. Artillery fired too far, tank destroyers moved too far, and honestly, I don't remember anything else about it. My friends disliked it more than I did, and though I played the AI plenty of times, it was hard to believe that in 5 years, this was all QQP could do with Empire. Sid Meier's had far better notions of what to do with the idea. Units were difficult to use in scenarios, as they were neither all that science fiction or historical.
The Bottom Line
I've considered finding an old 286 to load with DOS 4, just to see Empire, TPG, and Civilization I. It would probably be worth it. It would not be worth it for battles of destiny....
