DescriptionBob has a big problem: He is trapped in his own mind! To regain his sanity, he needs to solve 30 side-scrolling platform levels. The goal of each level is simple: find the key, find the door, exit. Of course it is not that easy because there are a number of obstacles in the way. The obvious ones are the various enemies (which don't actively target Bob) and environmental hazards (e.g. spikes) which detract a part of Bob's life energy when touched. As soon as health reaches zero or Bob falls into an endless hole, one live is lost and the level needs to be restarted from scratch.
The second major problem is that the levels require to solve a number of puzzles. This is usually accomplished by using items which have to be found during the level and can be activated at any time from the inventory. Examples for items are the hoverboard which allows to cross spikes unharmed or another one which is used to walk through walls. Additionally there are power-ups which have permanent (extra health, extra lives, health bar extension) or temporary (shield, gravity reversal, speed/jump boost, invincibility, freezing enemies or slowing time) effects
Besides a regular time limit, the player also needs to watch Bob's sanity level. It decreases over time and causes the screen to distort. This problem can be put at bay by collecting brains. Additionally Bob can collect coins; a hundred rewards an extra live. The next level is chosen from an overhead map, but it has barriers which require items to lift. These are gained by completing previous levels.
