With the release of BreakQuest there is no reason for there to ever be another breakout game...really! I've played most every arkanoid game that has ever come out and I've become an expert on the subject. I've never played anything that came remotely close to being as good a game as BreakQuest is. The demo is a nice little window into a game that only gets better and better the more you play it. Working your way through the different levels is an absolute blast that everyone should be able to experience. BreakQuest is a game that should be in every gamer's library.

You have to buy this! If you are even remotely interested in Breakout games, get BreakQuest! It's really worth the low price. If you still do not believe me, try the demo and prepare to be surprised. BreakQuest could quite possibly be one of the be values for the price of any PC game on the market today.

Apart from most of Break Quest being slightly too easy and the lack of a Multiplayer mode, the rest of the game is flawless. Plenty of levels, lots of replay value, a broad appeal, and a cheap and simple way of obtaining the game through Stardock’s online distribution system make Break Quest a title that everyone should look into.

If you are a fan of Breakout and Arkanoid games, you'll appreciate the highly configurable arcade mode. Set up the game as you like: ball speed parameters, bumper size, customize power ups, select what levels you want to play and much more. Incredible replay value.

BreakQuest is a compelling redux of the classic brickbashing idea - the realistic physics provide some additional entertainment value in a genre that's been done to death otherwise.

This game has some legs with a 100 stages of varied breaking. If this style of game is your thing, this will keep you busy for a while. It also offers a highly customizable arcade mode for those that just can’t get enough breaking. Between the physics based gameplay, variety of things available for breaking, power-ups and the number of levels on hand, this may the pinnacle of the Breakout-style game. Depending on how much you enjoy these kinds of games, the $20 price tag may seem like a bargain or a bit steep, but the website ( offers a downloadable demo for free if you’re on the fence.
Windows1UP (Dec 20, 2004)
BreakQuest is colorful, fun, and downright clever. Each level you progress though is unique, and often will bring back memories of Asteroids, Space Invaders, and many others which defy description. You also can configure the game in many ways - poking around with the physics as well as alternate game modes. If you are a fan of classic games, or are tired of Bejeweled - style puzzle games, this game is a must-download.

PSPPSP Minis (Oct 09, 2009)
At £2.49, BreakQuest is another Minis bargain. You don’t have to have been a fan of the original to revel in its eccentric brilliance, and this may well turn out to be the Mini that I play the most this week. Now if you excuse me I’ve got a giant cow to destroy!
WindowsMeristation (Aug 17, 2006)
PSPTheSixthAxis (Oct 22, 2009)
BreakQuest is hampered only by the PSP’s hardware – the analog controls just aren’t precise enough to enable smooth, quick movement for your bat in this refreshing take on the classic bat and ball gameplay. True, it’s possible to use the d-pad but the game’s built-in acceleration is a little unpredictable and BreakQuest actually seems to be aware of the host’s shortcomings by giving you a rather generous (but slightly buggy) second chance if you manage to just throw the bat sideways at the last second, normally sending the ball directly vertical. Still, with 100 levels and some cool physics (everything seems to have some sense of weight and collision) it’s a fun, but tough diversion for PSP fans. The presentation’s nice and there’s certainly a lot of ‘game’ for your money:

With 100 levels, and some cunning design that tests your brain as much as your reflexes, the only persistent issue with Breakquest is the initially annoyance of the sluggish stick control. Get past that, and you've got a solid pick-up-and-play game.
PSPGamingEvolution (Apr 16, 2010)
BreakQuest is a PC game that was ported over to the PSP and the PS3 through the minis program. Whether you play it on your PSP or PS3, you will can expect the same presentation value despite the screen size. Its unique looking levels and sound design engross you in the game, and the many power-ups keep you on your toes when the balls are flying. Give this game a chance and you will find yourself not being able to stop playing.
WindowsGameZebo (May 12, 2008)
It takes something special to set a Breakout-style game apart from decades of similar competition. But BreakQuest does just that with clever level design, well-implemented physics and a new "gravitor" feature that will keep you happily breaking "bricks" for hours on end.
WindowsGameStar (Germany) (Mar, 2006)
WindowsJustPressPlay (2005)
Overall, if you like breakout and just have to have the latest version of it, then this is for you. If not, for a price tag of $19.99, you'd be happier taking your significant other out to a movie.
