Eventually you create a village which is populated by stragglers from the wilderness, whom you can assign as wood-gatherers, hunters, trappers, and processing the meat & fur from the traps.

Sometimes the beasts from the wilderness object to being hunted, and decimate your population.

The items you can make, required different resources, so you need to make sure the needed items are produced. (Making more refined items can use up basic items needed in trade).

Once you have a compass, you can set out into the wilderness; a rucksack helps you carry more things, but don't overfill it.

Once in the wilderness, the interface switches to a map screen, much like nethack, with letters/symbols representing interesting features. You are the @ character.

Moving the cursor over a letter gives a short description of the feature. 'O' is the abandoned town described. 'H' are houses.

Moving my '@' wanderer into the town 'O' will give a longer description of it, and a choice of exploring (risking attack by citizens) or leaving it alone. You do need some defense to survive a fight.
