McPixel is a short game made for the 21st Ludum Dare competition based around the theme "escape". The player controls a man through 6 quick challenges where the day needs to be saved in less than 20 seconds. The game features a retro-style pixel art look and each scene is set in a single screen. The player interacts with the environment by clicking parts in the scenery. Most scenarios require the guy to avoid being blown up, but much of the experience is also centered about going through the different types of options to uncover all gags with a lot of slapstick violence. Not all actions lead to an immediate result, sometimes items can be picked up and they are then used elsewhere. The game cycles through the six scenes until they all have been completed. To unlock a special ending, all the gags in all scenes need to be found. The six scenes are set in a metro, an office, a volcano, an airplane, a submarine and an alien space ship.
