Monster Arena

Monster Arena is an online multiplayer, text-based game where the players create a team of fantasy beasts to battle other teams.

Each Monster Arena tournament begins on the first day of the month, and lasts for several days. On the first day, the players create their team of three characters, choosing their race (which determines the initial statistics) and element (which is important for some magical effects.) Each character gets a number of points which can be distributed among its three statistics: Strength, Constitution and Agility, which determine the character's ability to strike powerfully, resist blows, and attack rapidly.

The player can equip his monsters by purchasing weapons and armor, which can further be upgraded in a number of ways; an enhanced piece of equipment can be made more powerful, increase the user's statistics, or grant a bonus against opponents from a particular element. It's also possible to purchase cybernetic upgrades to increase a monster's hit point total or maximum statistics.

Battles take place automatically each 24 hours; the player can see the result and see how the battle went. After each battle, won or lost, the player receives gold to make purchases. The monsters also increase some of their statistics after the battle, and also earn a number of statistics points to be distributed by the player as he sees fit.

A tournament consist of the preliminary phase and the elimination phase. In the preliminary phase, the participating players' teams fight against computer-generated teams. In the elimination phase the players combat one another -- the tournament ends when only one undefeated player remains.
