Caravans to Timbuktu!

Caravans to Timbuktu! is an educational game for the Apple II.

This is the Muslim year of 878 after the Hijira of Muhammed. Your parents are sending you on a journey in search of the great king of the Bilad al-Sudan at Gao and Timbuktu. You are to take him a special gift, an Arabian Stallion. Your goal is to locate and reach the King as soon as possible. During the journey, the player must also collect other great items to bring back home.

The player starts with a 550 dinars, and must pay to travel to different communities by caravan. At each location they can buy supplies, review their map, and visit people. Visiting people requires a letter of introduction, or a personal connection to the family. These must be obtained in order to build connections while travelling
