The third title in the Carmageddon series.

There are three modes of play: "Free Play", which consists of 30 races across 9 different environments; "Campaign", which includes all the races of Free Play mode as well as 25 challenging and individual missions; and "Multiplayer", which features 5 different deathmatch arenas with 7 different network games. The last mode represents the core of the game. Animated props such as working cranes, lifts, and bridges produce a life-like gaming environment. For the first time, you can customize your car. People in the maps interact with their environment, crossing streets or waiting in front of theatres. The cops are also back again, so watch out!

Technically, the game is up-to-date with graphic and sound rendering technologies at the time of its release, supporting reflections, rain, smoke, shadows, or surround sound, among other things.

Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 Windows There are six different multiplayer game types available.

German version

In the German version all blood and gore is green and people/some animals were replaced with zombies.

Text adventure

TDR 2000 has a text adventure game hidden in the console. Hit tilde (~) to bring up the console, then type "hereComesTrouble" (case sensitive and without quotes) to enable cheats. After that, type "adventure" (again without quotes) to start the game.

The Death Race

In 1999 SCI was planning on releasing TDR 2000 under the title Carmageddon The Death Race 2000, referencing the Roger Corman film Death Race 2000. This was filed as US trademark SN#75788289, but never finalized and was officially abandoned in 2003. Total Destruction Racing was their less infringing alternative reading of "TDR".
