Carmen Sandiego was a little fish in a big pond -- gallivanting through enormous settings such as the USA, the World and, yea, Time itself, with her sinister and avaricious criminal plots. Simona is a chip off the old block, but prefers to pillage without having to mess with luggage and those tricky time zone differences: her criminal predations are restricted solely to the Big Apple. It's a big city, there's plenty to steal.

This clone plays much like its bigger sisters; you go from site to site interrogating witnesses hoping to uncover sufficient clues to both point to the suspect's next location and to gather the evidence needed to issue a warrant for their arrest.

Copyright infringement

If you felt that the look and feel of this game were suspiciously similar to the Carmen Sandiego games, you weren't alone. Brøderbund, the holder of the Carmen Sandiego copyright, actually filed legal proceedings against OctagonSoft over this matter. The outcome? A brief in legalese reads:
Obtained stipulated permanent injunction and final judgment on trademark infringement claim against publisher of knockoff software product.
What does that add up to? Well, that it's no coincidence you never saw this product on store shelves and its name slipped off the annals of history. It must really sting to sink the time and money into developing a game and then be prohibited by law from selling it... whatcha gonna do, come up with original game ideas?
