Championship Manager 01/02 is one of those addictive games that makes you decide to play “just a little hit longer” even though it’s a quarter to three in the morning. Even if you’re not a soccer fan, give it a shot—this is a great game.

This game I am addicted to. Finally, I can play the game without the PC specifications to worry about

The waiting is finally over, the new season for virtual football managers has begun. The excitement with which every release of a Championship Manager game is greeted grows with every new release. Every year there are other football management games that come out, last a few weeks in the charts and plop into the bargain bucket. Championship Manager is different though as it remains at No.1 for weeks and remains in the top ten until the next version. The reason for its success is simple, it is as real as any game will get. Spot a new footballing star in a game of Championship Manager and it is almost a certainty that in real life that player will also become a star.

The best game on the XBOX? If you are a football fan then the answer is definitely yes. If you're not a football fan then this is one game that might make you reconsider. Sports Interactive prove that once again gameplay does not necessarily have anything to do with breathtaking graphics as Championship Manager harnesses the power of the imagination, something no technology can compete with.

So it's thoroughly accurate, an excellent port of a game which was already excellent to begin with, and the only debate is whether or not you should buy this instead of or as well as the PC version. For me, sitting on the comfy sofa downstairs is infinitely preferable to burrowing into my PC hobby hole for hours at a time. Some people are so fanatical about CM that they buy stupidly expensive PCs just to play it; now you can buy a relatively inexpensive console and get the same experience.

Sports Interactive really has one hell of a winner on their hands and as long as they keep the updates coming, this is a game that will keep to the top of the charts.
WindowsSuper Play (Sweden) (Nov, 2001)

Still the king of the footie management castle, and now entering a new era which could lead the series from strength-to-strength. "First-rate play", as any good pundit would gush.

All of which leaves CM 01 / 02 fit for the new season and an essential edition to any footie fans gaming collection. With the next instalment, CM4, Sports Interactive are promising support for multiplayer gaming, and possibly, a tactical view of players during the match… I look forward to this with drooling impatience. In the meantime, I'm off to continue Liverpool's season of destiny, the European Cup is within my grasp, I urge you to do the same, for Championship Manager is simply the best football management simulation ever.

Championship Manager 01/02 continues the long tradition of career management simulation dominance begun many years ago by Sports Interactive. Whether or not you'll want to wait for Championship Manager 4 depends on how much you valuable the incremental changes in the current version.

Championship Manager: Season 01/02 is a game you'll come back to again and again. Even after this review I will continue to play this game, and improve my team's performance, and the inclusion of the player editor allows you to create your own teams and take them to the top. Put yourself into the game, your family, your colleagues, your pets, put their pics in with the picture editor and you have a game that offers limitless lifespan as well as self-customisation. This is football heaven.

EU vaati vuosi sitten FIFA:a muuttamaan jalkapallossa vallitsevia pelaajasopimussäännöksiä.

XboxXbox World Australia (XWA) (Mar 25, 2004)
Championship Manager 01/02 is probably one of, if not the deepest Xbox sports sim game currently available. Its simplistic 2D text based match engine has not prevented it from being enormously successful on the PC. Controller issues aside the transition to console has been largely pain free with 99% of the game being a direct port. Now round ball freaks can enjoy the pinnacle of Football management sims without a high grade PC.
XboxConsoles Plus (May, 2002)
WindowsGameSpot (Belgium/Netherlands) (Oct 24, 2001)

Overall, If you love to be in control of a football team, then this is the ultimate game for that. It's the World Cup, Premier League and Champions League all rolled up into one game. It's that good!! Don't rent it as you will not have enough time to play it. It's a must-have for all footy fans!!
WindowsSvenska PC Gamer (Nov, 2001)

WindowsPC Games (Germany) (Dec, 2001)
