You have to like Slither. There's nothing here not to like. Coleco has captured every detail of the arcade parent and done it so well that even the toughest critic will find no fault.
TeleMatch (Apr, 1984)
Diese Art von Schießspiel gefällt mir aber ungemein, denn dem Spieler wird einiges abverlangt. Der Trak-Ball muß in ständiger Bewegung sein, um mitkommen zu können. Wehe aber, man erwischt eine Schlange nicht am Kopf. Nach bewährtem Muster teilt sie sich und die Bedrohung unter dem Gesichtspunkt Masse wird größer. Was dort die Pilze sind hier die Büsche. Und was da Flöhe und Spinnen, kommt hier als Dinosaurier oder Pterodactylus usw. auf den Schirm. Die Grafik ist beeindruckend; fast unsichtbare Schlangen steigern den Spielspaß und die Spannung. Vor allem: Das Spiel ist weniger abstrakt als die vergleichbaren für die beiden anderen Systeme.
Overall, this is a good, solid game. Coleco dropped the ball on a number of 1983 games, but not with this one. A terrific game by itself, and, for those who actually had a chance to play and enjoy Slither in the arcades, a dream come true, especially with the arcade-like controls.

Slither's first few levels feel like a third-rate game of Centipede, but once things heat up (and the whole screen is crawling with snakes) the action gets undeniably intense. Unfortunately, when things get crazy the visuals become messy and the animation gets rough. In a pathetic display of "animation", a pterodactyl frequently "blinks" his way across the screen. Another wandering creature looks like a small T-Rex with wings - sad! Each level begins with a short rendition of "When the Saints Come Marching In", which I really, really hate. Slither could use some polish, but it's still fun. It's one of the few titles to properly take advantage of the roller controller.
Tilt (Apr, 1984)
Le graphisme est réussi, mais l'action se résume à un feu roulant qui devient à la longue quelque peu lassant : seul le niveau le plus élevé tire son épingle du jeu en maintenant le joueur dans un état de tension permanente. A recommander aux inconditionnels du tir non stop : les autres risquent d'être déçus.
