Best of the series? (Gauntlet II)

I have always thought this game is the best of the series. I have played a few of the newer Gauntlet games (PS2, Dreamcast etc) and they just didn't seem to be as good as Gauntlet or Gauntlet II. What do you guys think?

I disagree. Gauntlet IV for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis is where it's at.

Yeah but that game is just a remake of the first one if I am not mistaken. I mean it is a good game and all, but I swear I remember it being a remake

It includes a port of the arcade original, but there's also a bunch of new modes added. Quest mode looks particularly cool, though I've never played the game myself.

Gauntlet Legends was pretty good for a quarter-muncher.

Also: Don't shoot food!

Save keys to open door. Not that you could do much with them anyway. Do not try to eat them I guess.

Yeah I haven't played enough of it to notice I guess. I am going to have to check it out when I get time.

I liked Gauntlet Legends as well. I played it a few times in the arcades.
