ACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment) (Oct, 1988)
The all-American bomb 'n' blast helicopter sim makes it onto the CPC in style. Almost everything's there except for the medal presentations. The graphics are great, the action's manic at times and all things considered, the game's probably the best helicopter combat simulator available for the Amstrad.
The Games Machine (UK) (Oct, 1988)
A wealth of information is available, as ever, from the detailed MicroProse manual, and gameplay is easily as good as the Commodore 64/128 version. All in all, an absorbing and challenging combat simulation.
ACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment) (Feb, 1988)
By contrast, Tomahawk seems a rather restrained affair, but once you've put down the bulky manual and started flying, Gunship shows definite disadvantages over its UK rival. It's easier to fly, but somehow less convincing, and the landscape (although more colourful) is less effective. Instrumentation is as complete but not as neatly laid out and as a result rather more tiring to look at after a long time in the air.
