However, as I said, it doesn't offer anything over the Elite conversions of Ikari Warriors, and how long have you had that in your software collection?
Things are a lot better on the Amstrad (pictured above) with smaller but equally detailed, colourful graphics and a bigger playing area to match, in turn the gameplay improves although the ideas behind it are unoriginal.
Thankfully, comparisons to Guerilla War only go as far as the game style; the graphics are far more detailed and more colourful, the scrolling is smoother, and the gameplay is far more entertaining. Victory Road isn't a great game, but fans of the arcade game won't be too disappointed.
New Computer Express (Dec 10, 1988)
Victory Road provides an enjoyable blast with a good selection of enemies and scenery to give you a hard time. As with other games of this type, it really takes off when played in simultaneous two-player mode. Well worth trying out.
