I was wondering if someone could provide me with info about the Triangular Box edition of Prince of Persia (1990) for DOS.

Somehow I can't find any info for this release on the web...

  • Is it a special edition? (I heart it's also called a 'gold edition')

  • What is the chronological place of this release compared to the standard USA release (the one in the red-ish box)?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Arj0n

It was probably a re-release tied to Prince of Persia 2, which came in a similar box.

That's a good reason. Also, non-rectangular game boxes were a shortly lived novelty of the early '90s. Certain other games had them too and they weren't any more 'special', for anything other than grabbing your atteniton on the shelf. I know that damn Spectre box was distracting when I browsed stores.

Oxyd Magnum came in a weird half-pyramid box made to look like the blocks in the game, which was a pretty cool idea. I have no idea how you'd even attempt to scan that thing.

So it seems the 'rectangular boxes' are no special edition or whatsoever?

In that case the first release, say 'regular box release' would/could possibly be more worth then the re-release, simply because the re-releases are newer then the first regular releases?
