Crop Circles is a quirky, relatively challenging game that I think many people would find engaging. The unregistered mode is a little short, but should give you enough of the flavor to decide whether or not to buy it. The steady variety and increasing difficulty of the boards should keep most puzzle-friendly gamers working for gratification without actually getting to the point of frustration.
Unfortunately, even this look into Area 51's infamous secrets isn't enough to keep Crop Circles interesting for long, which is really too bad...it seems like it would be really hard to make crop circles and cattle abductions dull.

In terms of meeting the challenge mentioned at the outset of this review, this game did not make me laugh. I found its style of humor to be low-key and inoffensive, but definitely not suited to my tastes. And without the wit, the gameplay here is just downright dull, making "zero entertainment" an apt description of its value. So unless you get your jollies joking about flatulent cows, I would let Crop Circles just blow right on by like purposeless tumbleweed.

Crop Circles has only one saving grace - its sense of humor. There are some silly little bits in the game that made me smile. Other jokes didn't hit as hard, and there are some I really wish the game designers had taken even further. Why not allow the player to abduct humans and perform experiments? The game tries too hard not to offend and comes up flat because of it. The gameplay certainly doesn't make up for it, flying over the flat parts of the farmland looking for old crop circles gets old really fast. Had there been more to it, more substance, more things to do, the game might have been better. As it is, Crop Circles is entertaining for about ten minutes. After that, you've pretty much seen everything it has to offer. Past that, you're just doing the same things over and over again. Bottom Line: Weak premise, nonsensical goals, almost no gameplay. Some of the jokes are funny, but I wish they had taken it further.
