WindowsOld PC Gaming (May 01, 2016)
A Genuine Classic. The net result of the amazing freedom you have is a greater sense of accomplishment. Break out of the holding facility in some other game, and you feel good that you beat an arbitrary obstacle — linear traps with predetermined solutions set up by a designer. Figuring out and solving obstacles in Deus Ex is a lot more nuanced, which, coupled with an engrossing story and interesting characters, make for one classic science fiction role-playing game.
PlayStation 2GameNOW (May, 2002)
Now here's an unexpected gem. Deus Ex is far and away the best stealth-oriented first-person shooter to hit consoles since GoldenEye. The load times can be aggravating, and the frame rate stutters a bit, but beyond that, this is a near perfect game. It's shooter heaven.
MacintoshTechtite (2000)
The must-have action adventure of the year, for any fan of evolving, intricate storylines. The possibilities of game play are numerous!
WindowsDaily Radar (2000)
For every ounce of freedom programmers give gamers, they give themselves a pound of worry. And Deus Ex is a game that gives its players a ton of possibilities. Whether users want to whisper through the world as a shadowy figure or rumble through the streets as Satan's angry auditor, Deus Ex lets players choose the way they want to play. Almost every obstacle has multiple solutions, and each turn in the captivating story makes the game more absorbing. Some of the dialogue, however, is a little clunky, it gets very poor framerates through Direct3D, and some cynics might refer to the game as System Shock 2.5. But for a complete package of plot, style, depth and action, few games rival Deus Ex.

Mould him well, because the world is against you. Trust is a rare commodity in Deus Ex, and within a world ripe with betrayal and conspiracy, you never know who will be next to turn their sights on you. Listen well to the advice of others but take note of the evidence viewed through your eyes as well as your ears. There are those that view J.C with undisguised interest, those that wish to recruit him or employ him as a puppet, and more still who’ll only be happy once they’ve put a bullet in his head. Watch an awe-inspiring story unfold around you, filled with a depth most games are scared to touch. But more than that, watch your ammo, watch your surroundings, and, most importantly, watch your back.

Stellar level design feeds into the game balance and most objectives can be completed in a variety of ways. Some levels play like well-crafted three-dimensional puzzles, providing tense moments, like deciding if it's easier to try to fight a squad of guards before they can raise the alarm or to use three lockpicks to get into an airduct and sneak past. You can even hack into the security system and use the automated turrets to take out the guards for you.
WindowsQuandary (Jan, 2004)
Deus Ex sits firmly within my top five, and will always have a place on my hard drive. Near the end of the game, you have to choose a path that takes you to one of three possible endings. I've played two of them so far, and I'll probably revisit the game shortly to take on the third. The question still remains: is this game an action/adventure, an action/RPG, a 'sneaker', or something that is the sum of all these things? Who knows? Who cares? It is simply one of the best games ever made.
WindowsJust Games Retro (Aug 17, 2006)
I really can't think of a reason not to recommend Deus Ex, unless conspiracies and sort-of-future settings aren't your things. Just as I am not impressed by or interested in Tolkien fantasy worlds, laws of probability suggest that there must be people out there who feel the same way about the kind of world this game provides. But if any of the hacking/sneaking/shooting stuff I talk about interests you, then you will want to sign up. It's probably the best cyberpunk game since System Shock or Shadowrun, and has a couple of killer plot twists and sylish action. I know I have intentionally not revealed much about the storyline, but it is there, it is twisted, and it is deep. If this sounds like your kind of game, it will be satisfying to the end.
MacintoshAppleLinks.Com (Sep 28, 2000)
The developers of Deus Ex are pretty much creating an exclusive club with this game, leaving the modest gamer behind. But if you've got the power, it sure feels good to abuse it. I mean, something has to justify the money I've sunk into my G4, and BBEdit just isn't cutting it.
WindowsThunderbolt Games (Oct 04, 2002)
Deus Ex is one of those games that comes along and shakes the industry. It's one of those benchmark titles that revolutionises the genre and shows off what developers can really do. Sorry if I've jumped straight to the summary, but it has to be said. The moment when you load up the first level, you know it's special.
WindowsAdrenaline Vault, The (AVault) (Jul 03, 2000)
Deus Ex is a Latin term used to describe a person or thing that appears out of nowhere and unexpectedly resolves a great conflict. Pronounced Day-Us X, Ion Storm's third release takes place in a futuristic setting and is home to the most elaborately detailed world ever created for the home computer. Created by well known producer Warren Spector, famous for his involvement in titles such as System Shock, Wings of Glory and Thief, Deus Ex isn't like anything you've played before. While at first glance it strikes a similar pose to its creator's previous works, under its trench coat of many mysteries, Deus Ex introduces us to a world so rich and unique that comparing it to any other game would serve as unfair criticism.
100 (UK) (Aug 01, 2000)
In essence, while Ion Storm have not found perfection with Deus Ex, they have come about as close as anyone ever has with a first person game. Moody and atmospheric, compelling and addictive, this is first person gaming in grown-up form, and it truly is magnificent.
WindowsPC Gameworld (2000)
Absolutely engaging gameplay that will appeal to gamers who appreciate all sorts of game genres.
This is what truly makes this game in my mind. Never before have I felt such immersion into a game where I feel like everything is happening to me directly. This is an incredibly well done game, with a multitude of possibilities, and one of the greatest replay values I've ever witnessed in a game since at any time during the game you have to say to yourself, "I wonder what else could have happened back there." You've never experienced a game like this before.
WindowsRPGFan (Aug 01, 2001)
The control is excellent, and since it's fully customizable it easily accommodates to any gamer. The only nitpick I had was the unbalanced difficulty near the end of the game; some of the areas just seemed too easy and then an explosion of difficult traps, puzzles or enemies was presented. Still, this doesn't make for much less of an experience, and I highly recommend Deus Ex. It's probably the best PC game of all time, besting even the mighty Half-Life.
WindowsGamer's Pulse (Jul 24, 2000)
If you couldn't tell by now, Deus Ex is a game so completely overrun with detail it's hard to imagine the game ever made it out. This is one of a very small list of games that have left me in awe afterwards, a small list previously held mostly by Looking Glass titles. While Ion Storm may have made a huge mistake with Daikatana, Deus Ex has given me enormous confidence in Ion Storm, especially their Austin division, and keeps me drooling as I wait for Anachronox. A game as rich in detail as Deus Ex is not one to be passed up by anyone.
WindowsRPGFan (Jul 11, 2000)
I'll be honest - I've looked forward to Deus Ex for a long time. I've always enjoyed Warren Spector's games. This may be his best yet - and that's a truly incredible feat. I've played through Deus Ex twice already, using different augmentations, strategies, and skills. I'm sure I could play through a few more times and still discover new areas. There's a ton of stuff to do, from hacking ATMs to hacking up enemy troops. It's flexible - no two people are going to have exactly the same game. Deus Ex is just plain fun. The year's scarcely half over, but for now, this is definitely the best game I've played in 2000. Find some way to play it - you won't regret it.
PlayStation 2games xtreme (Jul 14, 2002)
Overall the game is fantastic and is one of the most addictive single player games on the ps2.
WindowsGamesCollection (Jan 23, 2011)
Fatelo vostro senza alcun timore.
WindowsPC Gamer UK (Aug, 2000)
But precisely how good is it? To take its two polar extremes of influence: while it's not quite as good as Half-Life as a shooter or Thief as a sneaker, the (here comes that word again) freedom to try both makes it Half-Life's only real peer. After two years we've finally got a genuine battle for the title of number one PC game of all time. And hopefully it will sell millions. The bloke in the street my recall The X-Files and The Matrix and be satisfied. The pretentious poseurs will be rewarded with nods toward everything from the illuminati to the French situationalists. Clearly, Deus Ex has influences outside the world of games; it reaches higher and drags you with it.
WindowsGame Vortex (Jan 16, 2003)
Deus Ex is a fine game. It has its flaws, yes, but they are far, far outweighed by the good bits. If you like intricate plots, Thief-style gaming, action gaming, RPGs . . . hell, if you like -gaming-, you owe it to yourself to play Deus Ex. It's an adventure from the master of hybrid adventures. It will pull you into its cyberpunk world and not let go until you get to the end -- and then you'll want to go back for more, to see what you missed. Truly a classic game. And if a few nagging problems could get fixed -- the A.I. weirdness, the graphical issues on certain cards -- Deus Ex would be as close to perfect as any game has ever been.
MacintoshIGN (Jun 07, 2002)
Great visuals, great sound, great game play and a great story add up to a perfect 10. The only thing it is missing is a multiplayer game! If your system can live up to our recommended requirements, buy this game today!
WindowsFiringSquad (Jul 28, 2000)
If you liked the Thief games and the System Shock series, you'll love Deus Ex. If you haven't played any of those games, then slap yourself 4 times. Once your penance is complete, run out, pick up a copy of Deus Ex, and see what you've been missing.
WindowsIGN (Jun 27, 2000)
To its credit, its brilliant design and elegant follow through make Deus Ex the best game I've played this year, and I think it's safe to say it's one of the most versatile first-person games ever. Those of you looking for a complex, unique experience will find it in Deus Ex. While I had a good idea that Deus Ex was going to be a winner way before I played it, the team at Ion Storm has gone above and beyond all the expectations I had for this game, and has made one of the most fulfilling single-player games I've played in years. I only hope we see this attention to detail and design in future games from Ion Storm as well as other developers.

WindowsSvenska PC Gamer (Sep, 2000)
The game is fucking brilliant!
WindowsActionTrip (Aug 21, 2000)
Deus Ex is a quality title, and you don't find those often on the market. It, of course, has its target group, mainly System Shock fans (of which I am one), and won't appeal to everyone. There are certain elements that the wider audience (Yeah, we're thinking of mass-market, dad-gamers -Ed) won't appreciate (sounds of the young married couple under Paul's window (JC's brother), or steal the gun of UNATCO HQ chief under his nose without him even flinching), but for a group of dedicated fans, Deus Ex is a treasure to behold.
WindowsPC Player (Germany) (Jul, 2000)
MacintoshJust Adventure (2002)
It is not likely that Deus Ex will appeal to the adventure purist. It is an action game with adventure and RPG elements and, as such, is best suited for those who embrace genre hybridization. For those who are willing to grab a weapon and duck for cover, I would highly recommend this game. Although the graphics are not quite up to par, the story and characters are very engrossing, and you are likely to find yourself fueled by adrenaline and playing until the wee hours of the morning.
WindowsGaming Age (Jun 27, 2000)
When writing this review, I truly wanted to give the game a full-blown A; it whole-heartedly deserves it. It's unfortunate, then, that I cannot because of the shortcomings when it comes to the poor performance under Direct3D, and the, at times, questionable artificial intelligence. Even so, Deus Ex is an incredible PC title, and shouldn't be missed by anyone.
WindowsPelit (Sep, 2000)
WindowsJust Adventure (Aug 03, 2002)
Once a die-hard adventurer, I have spent this year developing an appreciation for other genres--most notably action and RPGs. While I am still not sold on the idea of wholesale mayhem, there is something about a first-person survival exercise that gets the adrenaline pumping in a way that doesn't happen with a game like Myst or Timelapse, something about sneaking past guards, breaking into computers, and hiding in the shadows that really adds intensity to the game experience.
WindowsGame Revolution (Jun, 2000)
There is no denying that from a gameplay standpoint Deus Ex is utterly revolutionary. It's long, it's malleable, and it demands repeated playings with new approaches. It is, as a game, everything you could ask for... and it's absolutely a blast to play. But it is not, as an experience, as enthralling as it could have been. What it does well, it does better than anything else and what it doesn't do well it still does passably. This is likely to be the best first-person game you'll play all year. Go now, embrace the conspiracy...the eye in the pyramid is calling out... for you.
WindowsLegendra (Jan 10, 2010)
WindowsEdge (Aug 14, 2000)
The only discernible weaknesses in Deus Ex concerns the gradual degeneration of the plot into third-rate sci-fi nonsense and some appalling voice acting, which detract from the immersive experience, as do the increasingly large saving and loading times between areas. These are irritations a game this well designed deserves to be without, but they aren’t enough to spoil the enjoyment. Behind the plot lies a game structure and depth that stands out from everything that has gone before. Put simply, it’s the anti-Daikatana – a game that not only lives up to its hype, but often exceeds it.
MacintoshMacNN (Aug 14, 2000)
Deus Ex is a unique, exciting and challenging game, the likes of which only grace gamers every so often.
MacintoshmacHOME (2000)
If games are on your gift list this holiday season, Deus Ex is one of the biggest titles of the year, and is well worth the $50. Although it’s easily one of the finest action/adventure games to hit the Mac in quite some time, this isn’t the best choice for a beginner gamer. Rather, Deus Ex fills a long-vacant spot in the veteran Mac gamer’s library as a game that requires mastering, and in so doing, will provide hundreds of hours of dark, dramatic enjoyment.
MacintoshAll Game Guide (2000)
The only real downside to the game is the huge system requirements. The minimum requirements will get the game up and running but with a low-end system, you will experience slow downs and, in some cases, a stuttering effect in movement. Also, when you've got six or more enemies coming at you and voice acting cuts in, the game slows to a halt. Unfortunately, this limits who can buy this otherwise great and worthwhile game.
WindowsGameZone (Jun 30, 2000)
In spite of having this program consume a lot of hard drive space in the saving process, Deus Ex is compelling, great to look at, and a whole lot of fun to play. The options package gives the gamer solid control over the elements of the game and the storyline builds with each mission completed. This program is quite a lot of fun to play.
WindowsDeaf Gamers (2002)
The game is fully subtitled but sounds from alarms etc., are not shown visually which becomes tricky at certain points. Thankfully you can save anywhere so a cautious approach will help avoid the frustrations. Conversations and objectives can be recalled, in text, at any time which is a nice touch. It's also worth noting that this is the game of the year addition that comes complete with the multiplayer component. It's great value for the small sum of £4.99
MacintoshMac Ledge (Aug 02, 2000)
Deus Ex is certainly one of the best first-person shooters and roleplaying games of all time. The most amazing thing about it is that it can appeal to more than one gaming audience. The graphics and cut-scenes are superb, the premise is amazing, and the astounding level of interactivity just adds to the already realistic gameplay. One minor problem that bugged me was the lack of support for Open GL. However, I was surprised to see that the game ran very well with the RAVE drivers, and I expect it was just as nice (if not better) with GLIDE. The other problem I had was with the high system requirements. The difference between running the game on an upgraded 400 MHz 9600 and a G4 was drastic. Deus Ex was almost unplayable on my older computer, and I guess it would be even worse on slower systems. Despite these two complaints, I found Deus Ex to be a near-perfect title. Mac Gamers, please do enjoy.

No, eiköhän tästä jatko-osa saada aikaan.
PlayStation (Jul 24, 2002)

PlayStation 2GameZone (May 03, 2002)
Despite the somewhat poor graphics quality and the slower paced gameplay than your average shooter, this game definitely has a plot which will suck you in and a deeply intricate blend of action and espionage which can create an almost endless character creation and enable you to build your ultimate cybernetic killing machine. Remember, this was a PC “Game of the Year” , and even with the lackluster graphics, the story remains the same. I highly recommend that anyone who likes action, FPS titles, or RPG’s give this one a shot. BANG!
PlayStation 2Game Vortex (2002)
Even if you never play another FPS or don't think of yourself as being in that 'camp.' Deus Ex may make a believer out of you. The thinking gamer versus the twitchy gamer is probably more of the target for this joint, but anyone with a pulse should be able to enjoy Deus Ex.
WindowsImperium Gier (Aug 30, 2000)
Generalnie Deus Ex to jedna z lepszych gier, w jakie ostatnio grałem. Niesamowity cyberpunkowy klimat (oj, dawno już nie mieliśmy gry osadzonej w realiach niedalekiej przyszłości), doskonale skonstruowana fabuła, zaskakująca chyba każdego gracza swoimi niespodziewanymi zwrotami, wreszcie naprawdę niezła grafika i muzyka - to wszystko składa się na grę doskonałą. Niestety wołające o pomstę do nieba AI przeciwników obniża końcową ocenę.
PlayStation 2Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine (OPM) (May 09, 2004)
There's a bad guy ambling toward me, and so far he hasn't spotted the fact that I'm hiding behind this pile of boxes. I have one tranq dart left in my crossbow, and if this guy gets the slightest inkling that I'm here, I don't stand a chance. I need to get past him and to the door across the way, but I can't afford to get into a fight, because my health is running low. I pull out the crossbow, take aim, and fire. Damn. I missed his face and it ripped into his kevlar vest. Nothing. He didn't even feel it. Now he knows I'm here though, and I'm screwed because I've got no ammo left. Um...what the hell do I do? Ah, hang on. This box has some kind of explosives in it...if I throw it, I think I can get him and not be affected by the blast. Pick up. Throw. Bang. Bad guy dead. Well done, me, for being excellent. If I'd have thought of that in the first place, I'd still have a tranq dart left.
Windowsgames xtreme (Aug 10, 2000)
Its graphical capabilities rarely hamper the gaming experience. The inventory, skill and augmentation systems are especially well implemented, storing all conversations, notes, mission goals and giving detailed item descriptions which when coupled with the simple training mission helps immeasurably to get sucked into the game. This potent mixture of l33t skills, an in-depth story, and excellent level design really does complete an excellent futuristic RPG. If you like games that really make you think, like Metal Gear Solid or even Commandos (be it from a different view point), then Deus Ex will definately be for you. A FPS attitude can be taken with this game but be prepared to miss out on the meandering story line, film noire atmosphere and die a lot!
WindowsGameplay (Benelux) (Aug 30, 2000)
WindowsPC Games (Germany) (Mar 07, 2001)

WindowsGameSpy (Jul 05, 2000)
Most people equate RPGs with the fantasy genre, but Deus Ex successfully twists the genre and brings RPG players a brand new playing experience. While it suffers from a few technical issues, what you shell out for the game is money well spent. You'll come away from Deus Ex with the sense that you could actually be a real anti-terrorist agent in UNATCO. Well, maybe. I wouldn't advise quitting your day job anytime soon - for now, stick with Deus Ex.

Fear no more, dear brothers and sisters! A brave new game has emerged with promise to let you relive the finest moments found in games such as Thief and System Shock. Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce Deus Ex!

WindowsGry OnLine (Dec 18, 2000)
Znakomita fabuła, cyberpunkowy klimat, elementy rozwoju postaci rodem z RPG, bogactwo wyposażenia i uzbrojenia, poręczny interfejs, pełna swoboda przy wykonywaniu zadań, rewelacyjna grafika i oprawa dźwiękowa, pełna interaktywność środowiska, a z drugiej strony kiepska sztuczna inteligencja przeciwników i ogromne wymagania sprzętowe. Więc jak? Grać? Też pytanie... Grać i jeszcze raz grać!

WindowsDa Gameboyz (2000)
A blend of action and stealth, Deus Ex brings you a great package of features and excellent replayability. Be sure to recognize the virtues of the save key though, for while saving and loading take some time, they become worth it in the end.
PlayStation 2Game Over Online (Apr 29, 2002)
This is a scary game, but not scary in the Zombies-and-Ghosts kind of way -- scary in the one-world-government-conspiracy way. And it’s also a very adult game, not in the gore-and-hookers kind of way -- adult in the sense that the storyline is geared for an intellectual audience. If you can get past the games technical shortcomings, then you’ll be abundantly rewarded with an experience that transcends conventional console shooters.
PlayStation 2Game Chronicles (Jun 19, 2002)
If the PS2 is your preferred or only gaming option then you definitely owe it to yourself to get this title. It might not be the prettiest game on the block, but it manages to keep all of the core design elements that made it "Game of the Year", and it will definitely get you psyched for the DX2 sequel coming out later this year.
PlayStation 2GameSpy (Apr 09, 2002)
It's all a conspiracy, and everyone's out to get you... At least, such is the case if you're J.C. Denton, newly appointed UNATCO agent and the second-ever field test for the most recent military technology: Nanotech Augmentation. In Ion Storm's critically acclaimed PC first-person action/RPG title, Deus Ex, gamers assumed control of J.C. through a dizzying span of levels, a massive storyline with three possible endings, and enough gameplay options to satisfy any type of player. Retitled Deus Ex: The Conspiracy for the PS2 release, it's all still there, but featuring a slick new interface, a PS2-friendly control scheme, and a good deal of reworking.
WindowsGameSpot (Jun 27, 2000)
Deus Ex's gameplay features and story elements, as well as the expansiveness of the game's environments and the scope of its setting, add up to a satisfying and unusual experience.
PlayStation 2GameSpot (Apr 05, 2002)
From a technical standpoint, Deus Ex shows its age and the limitations of the PS2. But the underlying game is widely considered to be a classic, and with good reason.
PlayStation 2Computer and Video Games (CVG) (May, 2002)
The atmosphere is tense and JC's nightmarish future world draws you right in. It's nothing like as slick and well presented as MGS2, but it provides a suitably intelligent back-up if you've finished Snake's new masterpiece already.
You'll find yourself constantly considering whether there are better ways to do the job in hand and what impact your actions could have later in the game. Immersive, clever and with good replay value - go buy it. Just bear in mind that you'll need a pretty hefty PC and accelerator card to enjoy the hi-res gorgeousness at its best.
PlayStation (UK) (Jun 22, 2002)
A console conversion of a two-year-old game that looked a bit shaky when it first came out was never going to be spectacular, and Ion Storm have probably tailored the game to the format as far as they possibly could. The interface changes are splendidly thought out, offering items via a modified inventory menu seems to have worked, squeezing the myriad of functions onto the Dual Shock 2 was an impressive achievement, and the visuals have been augmented to good effect, although perhaps with less success than JC's own augmentation. Deus Ex is still an amazing, immersive and downright life-stealing game no matter what platform it's on, and Ion Storm can only be congratulated for that.
WindowsCyberJoy (Nov 09, 2000)
Pomimo kilku niedociągnięć, gra jest grzechu warta. Wspaniale rozbudowana ciekawa fabuła, powinna zachęcić do "straty" kilkudziesięciu godzin z życia.

PlayStation (Jul 19, 2002)
Nonetheless, these are the only weaknesses in an otherwise well presented, polished & accomplished title. From the terrorist attack on the Statue Of Liberty to the 3 different possible endings, Deus Ex is a fun and absorbing adventure the likes of which we definately need more of on PS2.
PlayStation 2Gamesdog (Oct 01, 2003)
Overall, is it a player in the genre? I think so- on the PC it's a six-figure selling classic. It's certainly a captivating game. It is intriguing, even if the storyline is a little unoriginal. But if you are a fan of the action strategy espionage thing, and longed for a 3D follow up to Syndicate which EA will never develop, then Deus Ex delivers. It does have a cult following, and Deus Ex 2 is now out, so that tells you something about the success of the original- which some people regard in high esteem in spite of the better graphics and presentation of the sequel.
MacintoshInside Mac Games (IMG) (Nov 30, 2000)
Deus Ex (pronounced day-us ecks) is hard to categorize in any single genre. Its code roots make it look a lot like Unreal Tournament but it has so much more than any first-person shooter. The manner in which you can develop your character lends a definite role-playing feel, while the real-time play is similar in feel to action games.
WindowsArmchair Empire, The (2001)
Deus Ex is yet another game to follow the trend of First Person Shooters (FPS) trying to set itself apart by bringing a new version of realism to the gaming world. You play JC Denton, the prodigy of a special operations project to add technological breakthroughs to human subjects. You are one of two existing subjects, the other is your brother Paul. (Why is it in today's games all heroes have stupid names? Would you be scared of a Duke? a JC? Crap, if the guy was called Meathook or Abattoir – that would be scary.) The game takes place in the United States as a new "super virus" is devastating the human population . . . blah-blah . . . stop terrorists . . . fight against all odds . . . yada yada yada.
PlayStation (Jul 16, 2002)
PlayStation (Jul 23, 2002)
Overall Deus Ex has been ported over very well from the PC. Unfortunately given the age of the PC title the game does look a little bit dated compared to other titles. Fortunately the gameplay is just as tight and exciting as the original PC game, perhaps more so due to the simplified controls which work very well on the console. If you have a powerful PC you may wish to pick up that version as it's available for about half the price of the PS2 game. If you don't have a powerful PC then this port does the game justice and won't disappoint.
PlayStation 2IGN (May 01, 2002)
At this stage of the race, chances are good that you've already heard of a first-person RPG by the name of "Deus Ex" in some form or another. Pronounced "Day-uhs Ecks," this game was first brought to life as a mouse-and-keyboard shooter nearly two years ago on the PC and has since made the transition to the PS2 scene at the beginning of April 2002.

Deus Ex has made quite a stir before and after it was released. People were mega-enthousiastic about this game so I decided to play it. The game is based on the Unreal Tournament engine, and after the mistake of Ion Storm with Daikatana, everyone was hoping that Deus Ex would make it all up.

If you are a fan of first person shooters and are looking for something to keep you occupied, this one may a good hoice for you. I want to be clear (not to mention fair) here; Deus Ex is a very good first person shooter, but that is all it really is. If you are looking for revolutionary, then move past this one. However if it's an FPS you want, and a good one at that, give this one a shot.
WindowsThe Retro Spirit (Dec 18, 2011)
The game is not designed for Windows 2000, but it will run. It froze up a couple times, but it didn't totally lock my system up, gotta love Win2K. There is a patch out. Multiplayer is available with the latest patch (34MB). There are a lot of neat maps available for this game. I would highly recommend this game but only for a mature audience.
WindowsComputer Gaming World (CGW) (Oct, 2000)
Despite all that, I still loved this game. To me. it’s like The Matrix: it pulls together many disparate elements that, on their own, are mediocre, but they manage to add up to something better. I was able to look past the choppy performance, the mental lapses of the Al, and some of the goofy gameworld logic and immerse myself completely. Yes, it’s a game featuring lightsabers, rogue Al, crates, muscular Germans, and other clichés, but it pulls them together into a great package. It’s the kind of game that inspires players to tell stones about how they accomplish certain missions. So while I love the game and see it as Game Of The Year material, I can’t, in good conscience, give it the Almighty Score. It has deep flaws that sometimes frustrated me. as they detracted from its ambitious design. I realize that not everyone will be as tolerant as I am about its flaws. Nevertheless, DEUS EX is ultimately a game-well-done, and if you look past its flaws, it’s a line ride.
MacintoshAftonbladet (Aug 14, 2000)
PlayStation 2Game Revolution (Apr 20, 2002)
Free to be, you and me. Having only played early, unfinished beta versions of the PC hit Deus Ex, I was more than curious to see what its console counterpart had to offer. Well, I'm pleased to say that most of what was loved about the PC version has been retained. Freedom and open-ended gameplay are what you can expect from Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, though limited console resources make it far from phenomenal.
