Disney's The Jungle Book: Key Stage 1 is a game for children aged five to seven based on the UK national curriculum. Based on the famous The Jungle Book story, the player has to help Mowgli the mancub and Balu the bear to prevent the tiger Shere Khan from attacking. By participating in various educational activities and solving small puzzles they gather clues that lead to an object that all tigers fear. Other characters that make an appearance are Banana and Barnaby the monkeys, Mango the vulture, the Caracal and Jacko the Parrot.
The characters are guided between fixed-screen locations. Often there are different paths to follow with entrances opening up when something has been solved. Activities include recognizing shape sizes and colors by grabbing the correct one, locating a jaw so an animal can use scales again, collecting a fixed number of fireflies in a jar using a honey stick, drawing freely on a canvas with different colors, cutting up words in syllables with a pair of scissors, guessing words based on pictures by picking the correct letters, cooking based on following recipes, telling the time and so on. Everything is tied to the jungle theme. The game ends with a big puzzle where many skills need to be combined.
The educational focus is on the English language, maths and science. The skills that are developed are English spelling, sentence construction, word recognition, reading comprehension, syllables and following instructions. Maths covers addition, subtraction, counting and place value, measuring, shape and space, and time. For science there is variation and classification, and the human body.
