Koichi Nakamura created Door Door as an entry into the First Game Hobby Program contest held by Enix in 1982. Also published from this contest was Love Match Tennis by Yuji Horii, whom Nakamura would collaborate with on Portopia Renzoku Satsunjin Jiken, and later Dragon Warrior.
