Description
A port of the PC's
Doom II: Hell on Earth, the Xbox Live Arcade version includes all 32 levels of iD's original "Hell on Earth" episode, plus a new nine level episode "No Rest For the Living" created by
Nerve Software exclusively for this port. There are no new weapons or enemies, other than those added from the original
Doom in the sequel.
Doom II runs at 1080p resolution, with the original art scaled. The view is locked to 4:3 and cannot be stretched or distorted to 16:9. Audio has been remixed to 5.1 surround, while the original effects and MIDI music remains.
Up to four players can play through the episodes in co-op, or any of the maps in a standard Deathmatch game. As with the XBLA port of the first
Doom, multiplayer is available online over Xbox Live or local split screen. 12 achievements can be unlocked, as well as a "Doom II" avatar T-shirt for completing one level, and a full body Doom marine avatar costume for completing the new episode.

Trivia
Health kits
Though the majority of the game is unchanged, all health kits are redrawn to display a red and white pill instead of the medical red cross from the original. This is likely due to ongoing trademark disputes with the American Red Cross over use and licensing of the "red cross" symbol.
References
The names of several achievements ("Rip and Tear", "The Great Communicator", "A Man and a Half", "You Have Huge Guts", "An Important Looking Door", "A Really Big Gun", "Superior Firepower") are quotes from the infamously silly
Doom comic.
