Trivia

GAGS

At the time the game was written the GAGS text adventure scripting system powering its guts only ran under MS-DOS, but in the meantime interpreters for the more robust AGT system to which it was ported permit the game to now be played under Microsoft Windows, the Apple Macintosh, the Commodore Amiga, and the Atari ST -- though it was never officially released on any of those platforms.

Reception

Believe it or not, this clunky + derivative game beat the competition to take home the 1st place prize in the 1986 Softworks AGT competition, held on the Compuserve Gamer's forum -- the earliest predecessor of the present day's annual Interactive Fiction compo.

As the winner, the game was widely distributed packaged with GAGS (and later, the Adventure game Toolkit), as a demonstration of the (somewhat meagre) capabilities of the engine. All that, plus the author earned a neat $100 for his amateurish contribution!

See this game's Ad Blurbs for the (extensive) release documenting the conclusion of the contest.
