The Battlescape system is the same as that in the Armada review and the same criticisms apply. Anyone who has an affinity for this very special period of historical warfare will enjoy this game - pity the order system produces such a slow game though.
For all the good points there's one real factor that weights heavily against Austerlitz; the lack of variety between it and its three predecessors. Once you've played one you've got a good idea how the rest are going to look. A designer option would have helped immensely, it's a pity this facility has been overlooked. Somehow I don't see this style of wargame having the lasting effect that is common with the popular SSG series. A recommended first time purchase, but if you have any of the others there just isn't any point.
Power Play (Mar, 1990)
"Austerlitz", der Nachfolger von "Waterloo", und bietet eine historische Schlacht zum Nachspielen. Interessant ist die Art, wie man seine Armeen f├╝hrt: Man tippt die Befehle an seine Feldherren in den Computer.
The Napoleonic Battle of Three Emperors, it is a logical successor to Krentek's earlier products (Napoleon At Waterloo and Borodino 1812). Incremental improvements do not disguise the fact that the graphic system is obsolete.
