Epyx have done an excellent job - there is a lack of quality sound but the superb playability of the Commodore 64/128 version has been retained faithfully. Graphics are of an equally high standard and you can select one of nine possible graphic modes before loading, dependent on your particular set-up.
Power Play (1989)
Die sechs Disziplinen sind so abwechslungsreich und spieltechnisch anspruchsvoll, daß man hier wirklich viel für sein Geld geboten bekommt. Die Umsetzungen von California Games sind anständig bis sehr gut gelungen. Die MS-DOS- Version macht nur mit EGA-Grafik Spaß.

Si, graphiquement, cette version PC de California Games rivalise à peine avec les ordinateurs 8-bits sur lesquels le jeu a été développé, elle est en revanche aussi jouable et aussi rapide que la version Amiga, et amputé des temps de chargement à rallonge qui empoisonnaient les versions 8-bits. On aura juste une pointe de regret concernant le son, mais se priver des sonorités insupportables du haut-parleur interne n’était pas nécessairement une mauvaise idée.
