Why does the German box prominently advertise that the game received a critical score of 76%? Reminds me a bit of Strife, where adverts of the game 'showcased' its 3/5 review score from Computer Gaming World.

Probably because in 1997 more of the rating scale was used and "lower than 80% = crap" wasn't true yet.
