dog in junkyard (Full Throttle)

i am new to playing games and found Full Throttle from awhile ago. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to get past the dog in the junkyard to get what i need. thanks for you help

sorry to bother everyone but it says to go to the crane tower after you have trapped the dog. my screen seems really dark and i can not seem to find the tower. could anyone tell me where it is please?
