As rebel forces close in on the space station Gallion, you launch strikes against enemy-controlled planets in the most sophisticated techno-toy available to mankind, the space fighter Thunder Cloud II.

The game is a blend of action sequences in an Afterburner-esque pseudo-3D view. These sequences vary between ground combat, aerial combat and space combat, with different motion physics and enemy craft. There is also a strategic battle choices on a galactic map invaded in real-time.

The PC version uses speaker tweaks to recreate the game's tune on theoretically-inferior hardware.

Galactic Conqueror DOS Phase 2: Aerial combat. The Thunder Cloud II can no longer turn, but roll. That’s pretty much all the difference.
Galactic Conqueror DOS Phase 1: Ground combat. The Thunder Cloud II can turn left and right to dodge enemies.
Galactic Conqueror DOS The stellar map with its 416 planets. Pick a new battlefield for another three-stage mission.
Galactic Conqueror DOS Nice: As the ship rolls, the horizon will rotate.

Game cross-references

The spaceship “Thunder Cloud II” of Galactic Conqueror is the advanced version of the original Thunder Cloud, introduced 1988 in Titus’ Fire and Forget (also created by Alain Fernandes).

According to the manual, the Thunder Cloud II pilot is recruited from among the “champions of the Off Shore game”. This is a reference to another Titus game, Off Shore Warrior (1988).
