DescriptionScavengers of the Mutant World is a role-playing game that focuses on the survivors of the Earth after an apparent apocalyptic event, where player-controlled characters must gather "vehicle" components (to make a car) so they can reach an unknown haven or place of refuge.
The game includes character generation and modification of skills and attributes (plus the character's face). It features party management, simple top-down turn-based combat style and randomly made map every time the player launches the game.

TriviaIf you want to play this game, have read the manual -- which, once downloaded, would allow you to meet the requirements to get past the copyright protection. A free scanned version of it, plus a download of the game, is easily available for free at a web site called "Post-Apocalyptic Media" or "PAMedia." The site seems to specialize in keeping track of such things, and appears to be kept right up to date in this genre, also including stuff like television, movies, and pen-and-paper role playing games.
It has occurred to me that "Lau" (the name of the city from which the scavenging party is sent at the beginning), might possibly be a several-hundred-year-old corruption of "University of Los Angeles." But I have not played, so I don't know if these is actually made clear in the course of the game.
