Suburban Commando

Inspiration

Suburban Commando is based on the 1991 movie of the same name, starring ex wrestling star Hulk Hogan. He plays Shep Ramsey, an intergalactic do-gooder, chased by two minions of the evil, evil General Suitor. Sheps ship crash-lands in the suburbs of Los Angeles. He finds shelter with the Wilcox family and subsequently tries to a) win their hearts (easy), b) find power crystals to recharge his ship (hard), c) be inconspicuous (hahaha!) The movie is a fairly funny, technically unimpressive action-comedy mix aimed at an audience below the age of 12. Compared to Hulk Hogans highly successful (as well as highly violent, and highly dumb) first film "No Holds Barred" (1989), Suburban Commando performed poorly. If you're looking for a way to kill time, try searching the net for articles praising Hogans acting skill. If you find one, let me know.

Scrolling

Although Suburban Commando (the game) is mediocre in every respect, the scrolling is smooth. Anyone who's familiar with 2D jump-and-runs on the PC knows why this aspect is notable. ;-)
