All the best games are built on simple ideas and although there are different crafts and bonus features, it's basically a question of shooting some things and dodging others, in a 3-D environment and as quickly as possible. It's both highly enjoyable and challenging and although you'll probably never be good enough to be 'Defender of the Ground', you're sure to have a great time trying.
This is one game I've been looking forward to for a while, and the wait has been well worth it. It's basically a pretty simple game - like a 3D version of Defender - but it's very, very playable and the speedy vector graphics make playing it an exhilarating experience.
If you are one of those people bored of looking at empty sky from the simulated cockpit of an F-16, 19, 29 or whatever, then you should definitely give this a try. Thunderstrike puts the playability back in 3D.
The One (Jul, 1990)
The price is a bit steep for a five-terrain, 50-level environment - but it's a unique concept which deserves to do well. If your PC has the power to run the landscape at high speed, you won't find a more addictive shoot 'em up available.
Power Play (Sep, 1990)
Upon first play of the game, one might think that Thunderstrike is just another run-of-the-mill, "shoot-'em-up" arcade game. However, after closer inspection, this reviewer came to the realization that Thunderstrike is fast-paced, requires a modicum of thought, and is addicting.
