You don’t actually do anything in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. You don’t have an attack, you just avoid everything. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde might be one of the the lamest, most useless games ever created, but it got me thinking and wondering and questioning. Much like the game’s namesake(s), I’m conflicted.
Doch trotz der geringen Schwachstellen handelt es sich bei DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE um eines der besseren Games fürs ohnehin mit Soft knapp bemessene NES. Wollen wir hoffen, daß dieses Spiel bald in einer deutschen Pal-Version erhältlich sein wird.
I'd take a pass on this game with a few exceptions. If you love Jekyll and Hyde get it! If you want to collect all the games, well then duh get it. If you want to see if this is the worst game ever than get it. By the way it's not even close. Try playing Color a Dinosaur.
Hyde can only transform back into Jekyll to continue the
stage by destroying enough bouncing brains called “Shepps” to swing
the stress meter back to Jekyll. It’s a strange gameplay dynamic, and
a very frustrating one, since it’s very difficult to keep Dr. Jekyll’s stress
meter up, due to the cumbersome and slow controls. It’s a somewhat
ambitious title but bizarre in its design and execution.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is about a respected doctor who develops a serum that transforms him into the embodiment of his darkest thought and desires. He becomes a slave to his alter ego and is ultimately destroyed by it. It's damn fine reading, and its not very long either. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Nintendo game, is not so engaging.
When the meter fills up entirely, Dr. Jekyll transforms into Mr. Hyde and you need to battle through some auto-scrolling levels with random, game-ending lightning strikes. Repeat until you reach the church. Flawed on every fundamental level, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is possibly the most unplayable garbage available on the NES.
